INTRODUCTION

Andaman Arecanut is the second most important agricultural produce here. Arecanut is commercially available in dried Arecanut, cured Arecanut and fresh Arecanut forms. When the Andaman Arecanut is ripe, its colour changes from green to orange and the fruit inside become hard. Dual drying is taken up by us to ensure quality. In the beginning the ripe nuts with husk are dried and later the nut after removing of the husk is dried. The markers of quality are colour, size, consistency and moisture. With an annual production of 100,000 kgs from the Arecanut plantations, we can proudly say that 96% of our production is found to be of top quality.
